Angelica Perez-Castro was born and raised in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico. Angelica moved to the United States to pursue a career in filmmaking. She completed her Master's degree in Film and Television at Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) in Atlanta, GA. She obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design at La Escuela de Artes Plásticas (School of Fine Arts) in San Juan, PR.
Her expertise is cinematography, photography, and design. She wrote, directed and produced her short film thesis project titled, Despierta (Wake Up). This short has been screened in several film festivals such as Something Wicked Festival (2017), Georgia Latino Film Festival (2017), and Latino Short Film Festival at Coachella, CA (2018). She has received steadicam training and certification. She's a member of the IATSE Local 600 Cinematographers Guild and The Society of Camera Operators (SOC). Angelica has worked on innumerable narrative scripted work as well as commercials, music videos and events within the camera department including Nancy Drew and the Hidden Staircase (Warner Bros.), Almost Christmas (Universal Pictures), and more. She was Director of Photography as well as camera operator on a educational segment for Sesame Street. She has operated camera on several episodes of TLC’s reality show, Family by the Ton (season 2). Also, she has done many projects as Steadicam operator such as OWN’s Ready to Love. In 2018, Angelica shot her first feature film titled Through Her Eyes, a drama piece about civil rights and segregation. This film is currently in post-production and the released date will be expected on 2019.
